Having grown up on a dairy farm in the Waiuku district, at the age of 19 Ian had never been to Church or had any contact with Christians. There had been several "spiritual" experiences all designed by the enemy to hold him in fear. But nothing of the truth.
Ian always had a belief in God, although he did not know him or his claims on his life. In September 1976 Ian was working as a Herd tester in the Tokoroa area of New Zealand. The family with whom he was staying said, "We always read the bible after dinner and pray, would you like to join us?" Ian listened to the bible story, but became nervous and excused himself to bed.
The moment the light went out and as a result of the family praying The Lord came in a mighty presence and overwhelmed him. Not knowing what to do Ian called out "God Help me". That night Ian went from believing that God existed to Knowing that he did. And over the next few months God set about answering that genuine heartfelt prayer, "God Help". By July 1977 a desire to attend church was so strong that Ian could no longer resist the call and so on the 3rd July went to church at the Matamata AOG and made a public confession of faith in Jesus. This was all very new to him with no church or Christian background it was like a wonderful adventure. One night in July at a men’s meeting, the Pastor said, "Lets all join hands and pray" He said, "Holy Spirit move in and through these men and fill each one with power", That instant he was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues for the first time. From that moment a desire know the word of God and all about this wonderful saviour Jesus was a driving passion.
In October 1977 the AOG was celebrating 50 years in NZ, and as part of this celebration, hosted meetings with Evangelist A C Valdez from USA. Ian attended the one in Putuaruru. A C Valdez was 83 years old, full of faith and a mighty Evangelist. He made a call for people who wanted all God had for them to respond, Ian was first up. The moment A C Valdez laid his hands on him the call to be an Evangelist echoed in his ears, that call is as strong today as it was at 9:15pm on October 5th 1977.
Ian is ably assisted by his wife Joye, who has an amazing capacity to hear from God and pray through situations to bring victory. Joye is a very able minister in her own right and is used by the Lord increasingly Joye comes from a well known Pentecostal family being the daughter of E T Mellor the chairman of the AOG in NZ from 1931-1943. In 2003 the miracle ministry took a step up when Ian & Joye where introduced to the glory realm and we are seeing many signs & wonders released in our midst, The ministry name was changed to His Amazing Glory Ministries in 2004, Ian now travels in NZ & internationally for His King & saviour.
